Be Bear Aware!

You are in bear country! Guests must follow cautionary procedures at all times to ensure the safety of humans and our precious bears.
Remember... A fed Bear is a Dead Bear.

General Campground info...

  • Salmon Run is located 6.5 miles from Downtown Haines - 1.5 miles from the Ferry terminal - 3 miles from the Chilkoot River & Lake.
  • Our campground has a gentle flowing creek bordering the eastern campsites. We have a Water filling station that utilizes the creek water... guests are more than welcome to use this water, but it has not been tested for potability.
  • Our Guys & Gals restrooms each have 2 toilets, 2 sinks and 2 showers that are on 5 minute timers.
  • We are pet friendly and have a doggie doo-doo station for your convenience. Please just use common sense and etiquette around your fellow campers.
  • We are in the wilderness and guests will need to be mindful of food and garbage storage to reduce the risk of bear activity.  We have a trash dumpster, but recycle will need to be dropped off at the bins located at the Visitor Center.  Thank you for your cooperation and consideration for your fellow campers and our precious bears!
  • There is a free dumping station as you come into town... located at the Haines sewer plant, just off Fair Drive and Haines Hwy.

Other things to consider before making a Reservation…

  • We love our campground... but it may not be for everyone.  We are in a natural setting with limited services.
  • Our RV sites are electric only.  Campsites are un-serviced.  There’s a Free dump station available as you come into town.  We cannot offer laundry, but there’s a great Laundromat in town.  We have creek water available by our dishwashing station - non potable.
  • Our showers are on 5 minute timers to conserve hot water
  • We have very limited Wi-fi - no streaming. Hot spots are available in town.
  • We spend our summers here to enjoy all that Alaska has to offer and are not always available or on-site.  We love meeting people, chatting and sharing stories, but we also love fishing, exploring, nature and kicking back. To find a balance and keep the campground open for others to enjoy, we have automated our systems.
  • Reservations must be completed on-line or at our self check-in Kiosk if we are not available to greet you.
  • E-mail and the Guest Portal are the best methods for modifications and communications - Cell phone service is not always reliable.
  • Firewood can be pre-ordered and delivered to your site. We'd hate to keep you waiting!!!
  • Our campground is carved into the side of a mountain 6.5 miles outside Haines, 1.5 miles from the ferry terminal and 3 miles from the Chilkoot river and lake. We have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, forest and Lutak inlet. It is not uncommon to see bears, eagles and other wildlife, as we are in their backyard. With all this beauty and nature comes a few limitations and unfortunately we cannot provide some of the amenities found at other parks and campgrounds...

Camping Guidelines

1.  Have fun, respect your neighbors, use common sense, take photos, catch fish, relax, take a hike!
2.  Please ensure all campfires are extinguished before departing or calling it a night and that all food items are securely stowed away.
3.  Quiet times roughly 10pm to 8am (see item 1)
4.  We are in Bear Country and must respect the wildlife.  Do Not leave food out in the open.  It will attract bears.   Please click to read and familiarize yourself and fellow travelers with the Safety in Bear Country Brochure
5.   If you are fishing, make sure to clean your fish at the source and dispose any remains well into moving water.  (Absolutely no fish cleaning on site)
6.  We are in a beautiful natural setting with areas of rugged terrain – please use caution and wear proper gear when hiking and exploring.
